1MP Rainbow Series: BLUE

After the unnecessarily confusing bluey-green cyan round-up last time out, we hope things get simpler as we move onto the inner arcs in our banded reconstruction of a rainbow using 1MP Gallery thumbnails.

Of course, our colour order is that of a “primary rainbow”, where the arc shows red on the outer part and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is formed by light being refracted while entering a droplet of airborne moisture then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when exiting.

In a double rainbow, a second arc appears outside the primary arc with the order of its colours reversed (red on the inner side). This is a result of light reflecting twice inside the water droplets. But it’s too late in our series to be reversing the order, and so it is that today we go BLUE:
